Four departments you can staff this week, using skills that are already switched on in your app.
A skill is a set of written instructions Claude loads when a job calls for it. Someone writes down how the work is done properly, once, and Claude follows it every time after.
Anthropic publishes theirs openly. The useful part is that you're not shopping for anything. On a paid plan in the Claude app, the ones below are already there and Claude picks them up on its own.
Worth knowing before you start. Skills need a paid plan, so Pro, Max or Team. The free plan still does plenty, just not this.
Worth doing first, especially if anyone else in the house will be using it.
The longer version is in Four rules for kids and AI.
Paperwork with a deadline on it.
Staffed by pdf, docx, xlsx and pptx. These four are the ones behind Claude's file creation. Ask for a Word doc or a spreadsheet and it uses them without being told.
Anything that has to look decent by Friday.
Staffed by canvas-design, theme-factory and brand-guidelines. Open source in Anthropic's public skills repo, and already available on paid plans in the app.
The messages you rewrite four times before sending.
Staffed by internal-comms, written for workplace updates and newsletters, which is exactly the register a good class message needs.
The job only you know how to do.
Staffed by skill-creator and Record a skill. The full walk-through is in Teach it a job by showing it once.
Nothing on this page is sponsored. Every link goes to Anthropic's own free documentation.
